Aldi's Big Florida Openings Today: Locations and Times Revealed

Rapid Expansion of Aldi in Florida
Aldi, the German-based grocery chain known for its no-frills and cost-effective shopping experience, is making a significant push into the U.S. market, particularly in Florida. Over the past few months, the company has been opening new stores at an accelerated pace, with more locations set to follow soon. This expansion marks a major milestone in Aldi’s growth strategy, as it continues to establish itself as a key player in the retail grocery sector.
New Stores Open Today in Florida
On July 31, two new Aldi locations opened in Port Orange and St. Cloud, both part of a broader trend of converting former Winn-Dixie sites into Aldi stores. The Port Orange location is situated within the Shoppes at Summer Trees, while the St. Cloud store is located in Bella Roma Plaza, formerly a Winn-Dixie. To celebrate these openings, the first 100 shoppers at each location will receive gift bags filled with exclusive Aldi merchandise and gift cards ranging from $10 to $100. Additionally, customers can register to win a $500 gift card through a special promotion that runs until August 3, 2025.
Future Store Openings in August

- Bushnell at Walker Ridge Square on August 14
- Jacksonville at Briarwood Village Place
- Lehigh Acres at the Winn-Dixie Shopping Center
- Tampa at Main Street at Hampton Lakes
Each of these locations was previously a Winn-Dixie store, highlighting Aldi’s ongoing efforts to repurpose existing retail spaces into its own format.

About Aldi
Aldi is an international grocery chain that operates under a no-frills model, offering lower prices by minimizing overhead costs. Unlike traditional supermarkets like Winn-Dixie, Aldi does not offer services such as a meat counter, deli, pharmacy, or bakery. The stores typically have fewer open hours, smaller selections, and a focus on house-brand products. Customers are responsible for bagging their own groceries and paying a small fee for shopping carts.
The company offers a “Twice is Nice” guarantee on its store-brand products, ensuring customer satisfaction. It also regularly features limited-time offers called "FINDS," which provide additional value to shoppers.
Aldi was founded in 1946 by Karl and Theo Albrecht, who later split the company into two separate entities: Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd. The U.S. operations are managed by Aldi Süd, while Aldi Nord owns Trader Joe's.
Strategic Expansion Plans
In 2024, Aldi acquired the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarkets, setting a five-year plan to add 800 stores nationwide. Although the company sold most of the converted stores back to private investors, it continues to move forward with the conversions that were already underway. In 2025 alone, Aldi plans to open 225 new stores across the U.S., marking the largest single-year expansion in the company’s history. By 2028, the goal is to reach a total of 800 stores nationwide.
