Beatbot AquaSense 2: Ultra Robotic Pool Cleaner

Design and Features: Built for Whole-Pool Cleaning
The AquaSense 2 Ultra maintains a similar appearance to its predecessor, but it comes with several notable improvements. One of the most significant upgrades is the addition of scrubbers on the left and right sides of the robot, which effectively clean the corners and edges of your pool. On the front, there's an AI Vision camera, an infrared sensor, and an ultrasonic sensor that work together with Beatbot’s HybridSense AI to scan your pool and generate a detailed cleaning map. Additional sensors are positioned on the bottom and left side of the robot, while a secondary ultrasonic sensor is located on the left side as well. A built-in water pressure sensor helps calculate depth and measure water temperature.
This advanced model is designed for both in-ground and above-ground pools, with a maximum size of 3,875 square feet and a depth range of 1.3 to 9.8 feet. It features a 5,500GPH suction rating, an IP68 waterproof rating, and three preset cleaning modes: Floor mode for just the pool floor, Standard mode for the floor, walls, and waterline, and Pro mode for the entire pool, including the surface. There's also a Custom mode button that can be configured via the Beatbot mobile app to tailor cleaning areas and duration to your specific needs.
Other modes available through the app include AI Quick mode for quick touch-ups, MultiZone mode for pools with multiple steps and platforms, and Eco mode, which cleans the entire pool once every two days. The robot can remain in the pool during Eco mode and will automatically park itself on the side when the battery needs charging.
The AquaSense 2 Ultra includes a charging dock, a retrieval hook, four side brushes (with screws and a screwdriver), a waterproof cover, a clarifying agent kit, and a user guide. It measures 10.9 by 17.2 by 17.8 inches (HWD) and weighs 29.1 pounds. It has a dark-blue-and-black finish and is powered by a 13,400 mAh lithium-ion battery that provides up to 10 hours of surface cleaning, 5 hours of floor cleaning, or 4.5 hours of wall and waterline cleaning on a single charge.
For propulsion, the AquaSense 2 Ultra uses 11 motors, an increase from nine in the previous model. Two motors handle propulsion in surface cleaning mode, while two regulate buoyancy. When the robot enters surface cleaning mode, it activates the SmartDrain feature, allowing it to rise to the top of the water for easy retrieval. The robot also has front-to-back track wheels and six guide wheels for smooth 360-degree navigation.
The Beatbot App: Useful Custom Cleaning Options
The AquaSense 2 Ultra is equipped with dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for seamless integration with the Beatbot mobile app. While submerged, the robot loses its connection, so users must wait until it surfaces to reconnect and adjust settings. However, once on the surface, the app allows control over surface navigation. This feature is particularly useful for fine-tuning the robot’s path and ensuring thorough cleaning.
The app opens with a screen displaying the robot and an enter button. Tapping the button leads to the main device screen, which shows the last AI-generated map of the pool, outdoor air temperature, battery level, and cleaning cycle statistics. At the bottom of the screen are Park and Remote buttons, which only appear when the robot is above the waterline and within Wi-Fi range. The Park button directs the robot to the side of the pool, while the Remote dial allows manual steering during surface cleaning.
Users can access the mode panel to select a preset cleaning mode or create a custom cycle. Once a mode is selected, tapping the play arrow sends the cycle to the robot. The app also provides a cleaning history log, displaying each cycle's details, including mode used, area cleaned, and coverage stats. An AI-generated map is shown for each cycle, offering insights into the robot’s performance.
Setup and Performance: Easy and Efficient
Setting up the AquaSense 2 Ultra is straightforward. After unboxing, users attach the side scrubbers and legs to the charging station, place the robot on the dock, and begin the pairing process via the app. Scanning the QR code on the robot's lid connects it to the user's Wi-Fi network, completing the setup.
In testing, the AquaSense 2 Ultra performed exceptionally well. It efficiently cleaned the pool floor, walls, and surface, capturing debris such as sand, leaves, and small objects. The robot completed a Custom mode cycle in 6 hours and a Pro mode cycle in 5 hours and 55 minutes. It also rose to the surface and parked itself along the side wall when the battery was low or after completing a cycle.
Cleanup was simple, with users able to remove the filter baskets and rinse them with a garden hose. The voice assistant reminded users whenever the baskets were removed, ensuring no steps were missed. Overall, the AquaSense 2 Ultra offers a high level of automation and efficiency for pool maintenance, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a hands-off solution.
