A Timeless Design with a Modern Twist

Nestled in the heart of Virginia hunt country, a new home plan for 2025 offers a perfect blend of tradition and modern living. This 4,974-square-foot design, known as Keswick Springs (SL-2115), is crafted by Keith Scott and Julie Kline Dixon of Rosney & Co. Architects. Drawing inspiration from the region’s rich architectural heritage, the home captures the essence of historical charm while incorporating contemporary functionality.

The design was influenced by the Keswick Hunt Club, built in 1989, which features beautiful bay windows, large hipped roofs, and deep porches. These elements are reimagined in Keswick Springs to create a space that feels both classic and current. “The historical precedents around here were key,” says Scott, emphasizing how the past shapes the future of this home.

The Main Floor: A Focus on Connection

As you enter the home, the intention is clear—connection. “It’s about connections, not openness,” says Dixon. The entry hall offers a view through the house to the back porch, creating a sense of flow without being overly open. A boot room off the side entry helps manage the mess of daily life, keeping the main areas clean and organized.

Just beyond the entry, the dining room serves as the heart of hospitality. The layout flows smoothly into a spacious kitchen and adjoining living room, both framed by windows and centered around an inviting fireplace. A scullery and pantry are tucked between the kitchen and dining room, offering practical storage and prep space. On the other side of the living room, a library features a hidden wet bar, adding versatility to the space.

To ensure privacy, the primary suite is located on the right side of the main level. It includes two walk-in closets, a coffee bar, and a spa-like bathroom. “It’s intentionally very separated from the activity of the house, so when you go over there, you are done with your day,” says Dixon.

On the opposite end of the main floor, a studio space connects to the main house via a breezeway. This area includes a full bath, closet, and coffee bar, making it adaptable for use as a guest suite, home office, gym, or art studio.

Outdoor living is also a priority. A classic front porch is perfect for relaxing in rocking chairs, while a large screened porch offers year-round entertaining. The gracious back terrace is ideal for lounging or dining al fresco, providing a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape.

The Second Floor: Cozy and Functional

Upstairs, the staircase leads to a cozy second-floor landing that doubles as an upstairs den. A built-in daybed nook makes it perfect for reading or quiet time. Three additional bedrooms are thoughtfully integrated into the space. “We tried to squeeze as much square footage as possible into as low a volume as possible,” says Dixon. The second-story bedrooms are tucked under the attic eaves, allowing the home to blend more seamlessly with the landscape.
