A Celebration of Love and Culture

Ovi Kabir, a former contestant on Big Brother, recently tied the knot with Hannah Claire Blackwell in a two-day celebration that beautifully merged their cultural backgrounds. The event took place in Sevierville, Tennessee, and was described as a "dream fusion" of their Bangladeshi and Southern roots.

The Wedding Events

The couple's wedding began with a Bangladeshi Gaye Holud ceremony on August 1 at The Glass House at Nichols Heir. This pre-wedding event included joyful music, dancing, and traditional turmeric blessings. Ovi and Hannah wore panjabis and lehengas, allowing their guests to experience their culture for the first time, including the Mehndi (henna) tradition.

The following day, August 2, saw the couple’s American wedding at the same venue's Grand Hall. The ceremony featured a vibrant romantic aesthetic, blending modern garden party elements with cultural touches. The couple chose this location because it was where they met during their time at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, making it a significant place in their love story.

Guests and Ceremony Details

Among the 190 guests were several Big Brother stars, including Tommy Bracco, Kat Dunn, Cliff Hogg, and Nicole Fontanez (Anthony). Other notable attendees included Alex Romo, Kellye Cash, Tatum Sheppard Filegar, Avery Rizzotto, and Synclaire Warren.

The ceremony started with an enchanting floral-lined aisle, and the altar featured an asymmetrical installation of blooms in soft pinks and purples against a forested backdrop. Guests were greeted by Yoko Shimomura's "Dearly Beloved," the theme song from Kabir's favorite childhood game, Kingdom Hearts. The wedding party followed to the "Andante Maestoso" section from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker.

Blackwell walked down the aisle alone, symbolizing her partnership with Kabir and their decision to enter their new chapter as equals. Patrick Doyle's "Harry in Winter" set the tune for her magical entrance.

Attire and Vows

Blackwell wore a "Devotion" gown by Wona Concept, along with a custom cathedral-length veil and Verstolo jewelry. Kabir and his groomsmen all wore Friar Tux, while the couple's pet corgi, Mowgli, wore a mini tuxedo. The bridesmaids showcased individual styles with different colored and textured Mac Duggal gowns.

During the ceremony, it began raining, which is considered a blessing in Bangladeshi tradition, signifying that everything had aligned exactly as it was meant to. Both Ovi and Hannah shared heartfelt vows, expressing their commitment to each other and their shared future.

Reception and Entertainment

The reception glowed with soft candlelight and bloomed with pastel roses, clematis, lisianthus, and trailing greenery. Guests enjoyed a mix of traditional Indian dishes and Southern American favorites, along with desserts like a three-tiered wedding cake and classic bread puddings.

Kabir danced to Panic! At The Disco's "The End of All Things" with Blackwell, who changed into a second look inspired by a saree designed by Thailand-based GL GarlateDesign. DJ Dunny kept the dance floor alive until an unforgettable set by King Ghoul, an alternative rock band fronted by one of Kabir’s best friends.

Love Story and Future Plans

Ovi and Hannah met at the University of Tennessee. Their relationship began with a group study session, and they bonded over their shared experiences. Their first date was at the Waffle House with just $10.13 in Kabir's bank account. In February 2024, he proposed to her on a cobblestone path in Boston.

The couple plans to travel to Conrad Punta de Mita in Mexico for a week-long honeymoon. Afterward, they will search for a permanent home in the Southeast, ideally in Tennessee. They are also set to launch a new show called What's Cookin', which will air on Food Network and stream on HBO Max this fall.

Final Thoughts

For both Ovi and Hannah, this marriage represents the continuation of everything they've built together. It is a foundation of love, trust, and deep understanding that has carried them through many seasons of life. Being with each other has never been about grand gestures or perfect moments, but about showing up for each other, day after day.
