Oklahoma School Board Meeting Incident Investigated

A recent incident involving the Oklahoma State Superintendent of Education, Ryan Walters, has sparked significant attention and investigation. According to reports, two school board members claimed they witnessed nude images on a television in Walters’ office during a meeting last month. The situation has led to a forensic examination of the TV and raised questions about the content being displayed.

The Oklahoma House Speaker, Kyle Hilbert, has been closely following the developments. In a statement released on Tuesday, Hilbert highlighted the findings from a forensic investigation that suggested the TV was playing an R-rated movie titled “The Protector.” This film contains scenes of full nudity and violence, which aligns with the descriptions provided by the board members.

The incident originated from a report that state officials ordered after the board members described seeing "retro-looking" images of nude women engaging in sexual activity on a chiropractic-style table during the July meeting. Initial forensic investigations indicated that further examination of the TV and potentially other devices would be necessary to determine the exact content that was shown.

Hilbert pointed out a specific detail from the initial report: the Samsung smart TV automatically opened to the Samsung TV Plus app when powered on. Investigators contacted Samsung and obtained logs showing that the TV was set to a channel labeled 1204, which features action movies. They determined that “The Protector” was airing on this channel during the time of the meeting.

KFOR, a local news station, reviewed the movie and confirmed that it includes scenes matching the board members' descriptions. One scene depicts fully nude women working in a factory packaging cocaine while wearing only lab coats. Another scene shows a woman giving a man a massage, with intimate details of her body visible from multiple angles.

Board members Ryan Deatherage and Becky Carson described seeing what appeared to be fully nude women engaged in an activity with a man on a chiropractic table. They noted the footage looked "retro" and included intimate private parts of the actors.

In his press release, Hilbert mentioned that he spoke with Walters over the weekend. According to Hilbert, Walters admitted he saw the content on the TV before turning it off. He claimed to have seen a doctor and nurse in white lab coats when he turned around to switch off the TV. This account contradicts Walters’ previous statements, where he denied any knowledge of what was on the TV and accused the board members of fabricating the story.

Walters had previously stated, “I have no knowledge of what was on the TV screen during the alleged incident,” and at a press conference, he claimed the board members were lying to damage his reputation.

Despite the findings, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) have not reached any formal conclusions. They continue their investigations, and additional findings may emerge.

The situation has prompted discussions among state lawmakers about accountability. Several lawmakers told KFOR that if such an incident occurred on a teacher's classroom TV, the teacher would be held responsible. They argue that Walters should be treated similarly.

As of now, no official response has been received from Walters’ office regarding the accusations or potential policy changes to prevent R-rated content from appearing on state-owned TVs.

Speaker Hilbert believes the findings suggest that both the State Superintendent and the board members were truthful, indicating the incident may have occurred unintentionally. However, the ongoing investigations remain crucial to determining the full extent of the situation.
