Oklahoma School Board Meeting Incident: Forensic Findings and Ongoing Investigations

A recent incident involving the Oklahoma State Superintendent of Education, Ryan Walters, has sparked significant attention and debate. According to reports, two school board members claimed they witnessed what appeared to be explicit, nude images on a television in Walters’ office during a meeting in July 2025. The situation has since evolved with forensic investigations revealing key details about the content that may have been displayed.

Forensic Investigation into the TV Content

The Oklahoma House Speaker, Kyle Hilbert, released a statement highlighting findings from a forensic investigation. This investigation focused on the television set in Walters’ office, which was reportedly playing a movie when the board members made their claims. The forensic team identified that the Samsung smart TV had automatically opened to the Samsung TV Plus app upon being powered on. Within this app, there was a channel labeled 1204, an action movie hub.

Hilbert’s team contacted Samsung and obtained logs showing that the TV was tuned to this specific channel at the time of the meeting. Further research confirmed that the movie airing on the channel was “The Protector,” a 1985 Jackie Chan action film known for its violent scenes, drug use, and multiple instances of full nudity.

Details of the Movie and Board Members' Claims

KFOR, a local news station, watched the movie and confirmed it contains scenes that align with the descriptions provided by the board members. One scene features fully nude women working in a factory packaging cocaine, while another shows a nude woman giving a man a massage under a table, with dialogue implying sexual activity. These scenes closely match what the board members described as "retro-looking" images of nude women engaging in sexual activity on a chiropractic-style table.

Board members Ryan Deatherage and Becky Carson stated that the footage they saw appeared to show nude women performing actions on a man using a chiropractic table. They also mentioned that the images seemed outdated and included intimate private parts of the actors’ bodies.

Contradictions in Walters’ Statements

Walters’ statements have been inconsistent. In a press release, Hilbert mentioned that Walters told him he saw the TV content before turning it off. He claimed to have seen a doctor and nurse wearing white lab coats. This account contradicts his previous statements. Shortly after the meeting, Walters denied any knowledge of what was on the TV screen. At a subsequent press conference, he accused the board members of fabricating the story to damage his reputation.

Ongoing Legal and Political Implications

Despite the forensic findings, both the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) have confirmed that their criminal investigations are still ongoing. No formal conclusions have been reached, and additional findings may or may not emerge.

Several state lawmakers have expressed concern about the incident, emphasizing that if such content had appeared on a teacher’s classroom TV, the teacher would face accountability. They argue that Walters should be held to the same standard.

Questions Remain Unanswered

KFOR reached out to Walters’ office following Hilbert’s press release but received no response. Questions remain about who accessed the app and selected the movie channel, as well as whether Walters would support policy changes to prevent R-rated content from playing on state-owned TVs.

Speaker Hilbert suggested that the findings could vindicate both the State Superintendent and the board members, indicating that the incident may have occurred unintentionally. However, the political and legal implications continue to unfold as the investigation progresses.
