On either side of the camera, there are power-like meters that display battery life and the remaining space on the SD card. For zooming, there are buttons on the top of the device.

One of the standout features of the CS-8 is its ability to capture up to 4K video at 30fps, depending on the selected aspect ratio. To begin recording, users simply turn on the device using the power dial, select the desired aspect ratio and filter, and press and hold the trigger on the handle. Recording stops when the trigger is released.

An Analog-Like Experience

The CS-8 is designed to mimic the analog experience of using a film camera. It doesn’t have a screen or digital viewfinder, so users can’t preview what they’re shooting. Instead, they must wait until they upload the footage to a computer or laptop. The included USB-C cable allows for easy transfer, as does inserting the SD card directly into a computer.

The device lacks Wi-Fi or Bluetooth support and isn’t compatible with any apps. This means that post-production work is limited unless users employ a separate video editor. As a result, the CS-8 isn’t ideal for quickly uploading content to social media. However, this limitation reinforces the idea that what you shoot is exactly what you get, requiring careful attention to settings during filming.

The Camp Snap CS-8 is currently available for preorder on the company’s website. It is priced at $199, but customers who preorder will receive a $50 discount. The device is expected to start shipping in mid-September, making it an exciting option for those looking to embrace a simpler, more nostalgic approach to video recording.
