US Open to Offer Record Prize Money in 2025

Historic Prize Money Increase for the 2025 US Open
The 2025 edition of the US Open is set to make history with a record-breaking prize money purse, marking a significant milestone in the world of tennis. For the first time ever, both the men’s and women’s singles champions will receive a staggering $5 million, making this the largest payout in the history of any official tennis tournament.
This increase represents a 39% rise from the $3.6 million awarded to Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka for their victories at the 2024 US Open. It also surpasses the previous record of $4,881,500 that Sinner earned for winning the 2024 ATP Finals. The overall prize money pool for the 2025 US Open has reached an impressive $90 million, up 20% from the $75 million available in 2024.
Significant Increases Across All Rounds
The prize money increases are not limited to just the champions and runners-up. Every round of the singles events has seen substantial improvements. The runner-up in both men’s and women’s singles will now receive $2.5 million, a 39% increase from the previous year. Beaten semi-finalists will earn $1.26 million for reaching the last four, while players who lose in the first round will be rewarded with $110,000, a life-changing amount for many lower-ranked players and those coming through qualifying.
Doubles Events Also See Major Increases
The doubles events have also benefited from the increased prize money. For the first time at any Grand Slam tournament, the winning pairs in both the men’s and women’s doubles events will earn $1 million each, to be split between the two players. The runners-up will receive $500,000, and the semi-finalists will take home $250,000.
In addition, the revamped mixed doubles event, which will be held before the start of the main draw, will offer a prize of $1 million to the champions. The beaten finalists will earn $400,000, and the semi-finalists will receive $200,000.
Tournament Schedule for 2025
With the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon already concluded for 2025, the US Open provides one final opportunity for players to claim Grand Slam glory. Main draw men’s and women’s singles action will begin on Sunday, August 24, with the first round of singles matches spread across three days. The women’s singles final is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, followed by the men’s final on Sunday, September 7.
The men’s and women’s doubles events will take place during the main fortnight of the tournament, while the revamped mixed doubles event will be held from August 19-20, during the traditional fan week.
