Tsunami Warning Halts Capcom's Monster Hunter Showcase

Capcom Postpones Monster Hunter Showcase Due to Natural Disaster

Capcom has officially announced the postponement of its highly anticipated Monster Hunter Showcase. Originally scheduled for today, the event was set to provide fans with the latest updates on Monster Hunter Wilds and Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. However, due to a recent tsunami warning issued in Japan following an earthquake, the broadcast has been delayed.

The decision to cancel the showcase came after an earthquake struck off the northeastern coast of Japan at 2:33 pm GMT (9:33 am ET, 6:33 am PT) with a magnitude of 7.6, according to reports from Sky News. As a result, the Japanese government has urged thousands of citizens to evacuate as a tsunami up to three meters high is expected to hit the region. In response to the situation, Capcom has chosen to prioritize safety over the event, suspending the showcase until further notice.

This year’s showcase was intended to reveal key details about the upcoming fourth title update for Monster Hunter Wilds. Among the highlights were the return of Gogmazios, a boss from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and several new features:

  • New endgame systems: Players will be able to upgrade Artian Weapons to their final form using materials obtained from Gogmazios. Armor can also be upgraded into Transcendent Armor, which offers higher defense.
  • PC performance improvements: The update aims to address long-standing complaints about CPU and GPU issues on the Steam version of the game.
  • Easier access to Armor Spheres: This change is expected to make progression more accessible for players.
  • Balance adjustments: All weapon types will receive tweaks to improve gameplay fairness.
  • New 9-star quests: These challenging quests will offer additional content for experienced players.
  • Festival of Accord: A new seasonal event that will add fresh activities and rewards for players.

In addition to updates for Monster Hunter Wilds, the showcase was also planned to unveil more information about Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. The third installment in the turn-based spin-off series was previously showcased in October 2025, where fans were introduced to the character creator system, pre-orders, and a trailer featuring Yama Tsumaki, an Elder Dragon that has not appeared in a Western-released Monster Hunter title since Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

Fans are now eagerly awaiting news on the rescheduled date for the Monster Hunter Showcase. Until then, the community continues to speculate about what the event might reveal.
