Warframe's Upcoming Update: The Old Peace

Warframe's next major update, The Old Peace, is set to launch on December 10. This update introduces players to a pivotal moment in the Tenno's history, featuring new game modes and opportunities to interact with members of the infamous Devil's Triad. While this update marks the start of an exciting journey, it is just the beginning of what's coming in 2026 for Warframe.

A New Chapter in the Tau System

The developers have shared insights into their plans for 2026, with creative director Rebecca Ford offering a glimpse into what's ahead. She mentioned that The Old Peace is the first step in a deeper exploration of the Tau system, a crucial location in Warframe's lore. Once a prime terraforming site for the Orokin Empire, Tau became the homeworld of the Sentients after they turned against their creators.

Ford emphasized that the team is focusing on both the past and future of the Tenno and the Tau system. "Looking back at the past to prepare for the future is essential and exactly what Warframe needs," she said. This approach will be evident in the upcoming updates, which aim to bring players to the modern-day Tau system—unexplored territory for the game.

Storytelling Innovations

Warframe has always been known for its epic narratives spanning galaxies and centuries. However, individual quests and storylines focus on character dynamics and how one person or group's story fits into a larger narrative. The "new approach to storytelling" implemented in The Whispers in the Walls, Jade Shadows, and Warframe: 1999 will continue with the Tau updates.

Ford explained that the team is committed to telling grounded human stories in unique ways. "We humbly promise to keep telling grounded human stories in ways and formats you've, hopefully, never seen before in a game," she said.

An "Echoes" Update and More

In addition to the Tau updates, Warframe players can look forward to an "echoes" update early in 2026. This update will revisit and expand on previous expansions, similar to Techrot Encore in 2025. Ford confirmed that details about this update will be shared during the first Devstream of the year in January.

New skins and Warframes are also on the horizon. In the most recent Devstream, the team announced a Deluxe skin for Dagath and other items to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. Players can expect more cosmetic content and new Warframes throughout the year.

In-Person Events and Community Engagement

Beyond the game itself, 2026 will see multiple in-person events for Warframe players. Following the success of TennoCon 2025, TennoCon 2026 is already confirmed, with tickets going on sale on February 27. The team is also planning a World Tour, hosting TennoVIP events in various countries.

Ford mentioned that the tour will start with an event in Australia in January, followed by a Devstream and TennoVIP event at PAX East in March. Additional events in London and other locations may be announced soon.
